Fun Double - Fall Leaves

Playing with paint and stencils :)  I had a list of things to use for a challenge on soul-scrappers.  I love that site for getting my "outside the box juices" going.

 Here is a close-up so you can see the paint better.

Here is my little guy hiding in the leaves so only his favorite bones shirt shows.  Scary, huh?  And, of course, riding his bike through and destroying the pile in true boy fashion.

October Challenge Kit

Cricut Class Coming

Wednesday, September 25th at 10:00 am.  If want to get going using you Personal Cricut or the Cricut Expressions cutting machine, this is the class you need.

  

You will learn everything from how to turn it on, to how to dial the correct settings for different papers and also care of your blade and mat.  You take class notes home and will do hands on projects in class to help you really feel comfortable with using your machine.

You need to bring your favorite adhesive, your machine and all accessories (mat, blade, spatula.)  If you don't have something or need to replace a mat or blade, we have everything available to sell for 20% off retail.  All project materials are provided.

Cost is only $18.  Call or email to reserve your spot.  Class size is limited to give time to address individual questions.  (Write them down so you don't forget :)

In the meantime, go ahead and play with your machine and see what it is you would like more help with, we'll accommodate.

Planning Ahead - October Card Class is about Christmas....plus kids!

Just Kids Card Class is New in October - 

Kids are welcome to come for a special after-school card class just for kids. Kids 12 and older are welcome to come after school unattended (with a parent's permission, of course!)  Children under 12 are invited to come and make cards with an adult.  Kids and their adult will make one set of cards for the regular class price.  You may make a second set of cards for only $10 more.

Just Kids Card Class Details - Class time should run approximately 3pm until 4:15.  All you need to bring is adhesive.  Glue sticks are ok.  A wide range of adhesives are available to purchase including $1.50 tape runners.  Pre-register by calling the store!

Regular card classes will still be held at the normal times.

Friday, October 4th at 1:30 or 6:15 make 5 fun Christmas cards.

Cost is only $13.  You should pre-register for this class to guarantee a spot and save $1 on the class price.  All pieces are pre-cut and ready to be stamped and otherwise craftily put together by you.  Envelopes are provides as well and all you need to do is bring your favorite adhesive.

September Challenge Kit

July Challenge Kit Winner

Congrats to Tricia!  Tricia won a $10 gift certificate by being voted the favorite customer project created using the July Kit.  Her kit "Labor Day" went with a patriotic theme using all the pieces parts of the kit.  (It didn't hurt that she also had two good-looking guys in it ; )

September Card Class

Reserve your spot now to make these five fabulous fall/masculine cards.  Pieces all pre-cut and ready for you to stamp and apply other techniques.  Come alone and meet other card makers or bring your own group.

Upcoming Fun

Bridgefest is Saturday, August 24th.  

Scrapbook Garden will be having another Scrappy Garage Sale during Bridgefest from 10 am until 3 pm.  

You have three choices to participate.  You may either have half a table for $4 and man the table yourself or drop off all your items labeled and the we'll sell your items for you for only 30%.

Setting up a table lets you pay only $4, negotiate with customers, and shop from your neighbors while you sit :)  

Dropping off items allows you to enjoy the Bridgefest activities or even drop off early and sell while you're out of town.  We will set up your items, sell, provide customer change.

Either way you can't lose.  You'll get room by getting some of those items out of your craft area and make some money to get something you'll use.  It's all good.

You may sign up for your 1/2 table or drop off items any time between now and August 22.  Open late until 8pm on Thursday, August 22nd for your convenience.

On a sad note - I haven't talked to Dan and Missy myself but have heard that they will be closing Blissful Finds and Treasures after Bridgefest and moving out of state.  If you would like anything from them, time is running out.  I will certainly miss that sweet little shop in Saranac and wish them the best in their next adventure.

August Challenge Kit

I really like the versatility of this kit.  You could use it for anything!  The four patterned papers on the right are included in the kit.  The bottom two are the same paper shown front and back (you get two sheets.)  The two on the left are the backs of the other two.  Plus you get two solids of your choice and a cat's eye chalk.  

Cost of the kit is only $6.  Turn in your completed project by August 31st.  All entries will be displayed during the month of September and voted on by customers.  Most customer votes wins a $10 Garden Gift Certificate.  All other entrants are placed in a random draw for a free monthly challenge kit.  Anyone can win.  How fun is that?!

Pretty, Easy Card

I saw this idea on a challenge over on soul-scrappers.  You simple piece together scraps like a quilt and then run the entire card front through the cuttlebug with embossing folder.  Small pattern works well.  

One thing I love about embossing folders is that you purchase them once; nothing to refill and or replace. You can order or pick from what we have in The Garden.  Either way A2  size embossing folders (approx. 5.5" x 4.25") are available for price of only $4 each...every day.  Great deal!

August Card Class

Here are the cards for the upcoming August Card Class on August 2nd.  Missy has done some bright and fun cards this month.

Sign up for 1:30 or 6:15 class.  All materials, including envelopes, are provided except your favorite adhesive.  Cardstock is all pre-cut.  You do the stamping and other techniques.  

Cost is only $13, $12 if you pre-pay but the Monday prior to class.  This month bring a friend new to card class and pay only $10 (and your friend only pays $10 as well!)

Holiday Store Closing

Store will be closed the entire week of Independence Day, July 1-6.  Have a great holiday with your family, friends and neighbors.

But don't be too sad.  We'll be back Wednesday, July 10th well refreshed and with a great list of new classes coming for the second half of the summer.

June Challenge Kit

June Challenge Kit is now available.  

Kit will include 2 patterned papers from Ruby Rock-It, "Pride" stickers from Authentuque, 1 funky fiber paper, 1 red and 1 blue solid cardstock from Core'dinations.  (2 papers at the bottom shown are reverse side of patterned papers.)

Purchase the kit for $6 and turn it in your layout, card or other paper-crafting project by Saturday, June 29th.  

All through the month of July, customers will vote on their favorite project.  Winner, as voted by customers, will receive a $10 store gift certificate.  A second winner will be drawn from the remaining entrants and that winner will receive a free August Challenge Kit.

What I've Been up to Lately...

I have been busy...good busy.  For most of April I was working furiously to scrapbook the military life of a local family's son.  I am now also working to do some layouts for a friend who has a son graduating this year.  I got permission to share the military/masculine layouts with y'all and thought this would be a great time since it highlights a man in the U.S. Army and Memorial Day and Father's Day are coming up.  

I never have a problem scrapbooking girls but their seems to be less out there for men and boys.  Anyway, here are a couple....

Just had the one picture of floor scrubbing so I went with more of a negative space single page.  Not my usual but I accomplished what I wanted which was to highlight the photo by using the "K.I.S.S." principle.

Here's a close-up of the corner so you can get a better idea of the easy addition of some ink to beat it up a bit and finish the layout off...you know, man-like!

I will be taking off Saturday to be with my family and will be back Wednesday as usual.
