Fun Double - Branch Worship Camp - Part Deux

I put together this layout earlier this week.  Recently I got to do the second fun part.  The first fun part is looking at the pictures!

Here's a close-up of the left side...
...and the right.
So for some pre-teen girls I dug into my embellishments and pulled out some Prima flowers with a funky color combination that they put together for their band, The Polka Dots and their super socks!

Have a great weekend!

Fun Double - Branch Worship Camp

Made this simple double page layout for the girls' band at Branch Adventures.  I made the custom paper background on the left and matched it to the polka dot paper on the right.  This is all the hard part - coordinating the photos, cardstock and layout.

The fun part comes next.....

Fun Double - Black and White

I was looking at one of my favorite sites, Once Upon a Sketch, and clicked on an image I liked and found a website I liked, then went to another...and a long rabbit trail later I happily stumbled across a site I had never heard of before called ScrapFit.  A bit of a strange theme, admittedly, but it seems very well thought out and really is about scrapping.  It was here I found this simple sketch and some very good, simple and VARIED samples using the sketch.

I really love how this site has samples that are simple.  I don't need $40 of product on every page.  They also are about preserving memories.  Some sites samples are about selling product so there may be one photo on the page and it's just crammed with flowers and tags and metal charms and sprays.  They may be beautiful but not very practical for me-especially trying to keep up on scrapping five children :)

Anyway, here's the sketch and my take on it.  I made it into a double layout because I didn't want all the photos smooshed onto one page and I usually prefer double layouts anyway.

Paper is from Scrappin' Sports with misc. stickers from Authentique.  So simple and easy.

Since I had a sketch to inspire me for the left side I just clustered the photos and then carried some element over to the second page.  I also like to have at least one thing appear to connect the pages physically.  Even though the star pp is cut I put the piece that was cut off on the first page to help further tie them together.  Don't know why the photo is so fuzzy.  Maybe I'll switch back to my camera from my IPad.

Don't forget to pop in if you're in Saranac this weekend for Bridgefest.  Hope to see you there!  Either way, have a great weekend.

Single Inspiration - Sophia Grace

Earlier this summer, at the Signature Photography Studio's free photo op day, my entire family was at VBS...except Bear.  So much for a great chance to update the family photo.  Oh, well.  I was, however, able to take the opportunity to play with my camera and practice all the things I'd learned at Camera Coaching Class.  I got some great pics.

Now, add the THC52 (Theme Challenge) from Soul-Scrappers and I have the beginnings of a layout!

I wanted to use muted colors to be able to highlight the photo and her name with splashes of newly introduced color.  Using the plain cream also allowed me to do some embossing and inking on my journaling to help each one stand out so that was fun :)  Pearl Pen in the middle of the Prima flowers to finish them and done.

If you scroll down a few posts, you'll also notice that I used the "scraps" from the Surely Shirley layout.  Waste not, want not :)

Want to try the Pearl Pens?  Come in this week and mention this post to get any Pearl Pen for only $4. (Retail value $5.99)

Single Inspiration - Surely Shirley

I've had this picture of my mom for a while now but was just waiting for the right time.  I was looking at a few of my favorite sites and I put together a couple of challenges to create this layout from Soul-Scrappers' Soul Scrap Quest 13 and Once Upon A Sketch's August sketch.  They really went well together.  All items, except the paper and a little floss were provided by the SSQ13 challenge hostess, Jane.  Check either out and you won't be disappointed.

Hope this gets your juices flowing.  Have a great day and happy creating!

Summer Fresh Card using Glue N' Seal

I've been wanting to play with Glue N' Seal from Ranger's Inkssentials.  Finally decided to try with this card.  To make it super easy I grabbed the awesome Summer Fresh papers from Simple Stories.  I started playing with the 4x6 inch Journaling Cards but opted for using the Flash Cards instead.  I wanted a tall card to play with a banner and still have room to cluster some items on the bottom of the card for the Card Challenge at Soul-Scrappers.
I used the Glue N' Seal with my fingers and applied it to my baker's twine from Queen and Co.  (I really like the 3-tone twine.  See the blue, yellow and white?)  It would have worked well if I had washed my fingers instead of just wiping them because when I tried to put the twine on the card, it stuck to my fingers.  Then I had to blob on some more glue using the in-cap applicator.  (That is SO handy by the way!)
I took the photo a bit early because you can still see the glue but once it dried you can't tell it's there unless you're looking for it.  It worked great to adhere my paper flowers and even the button.  I will definitely be using it again.
I can see a lot of Simple Stories in my future.
Wait 'til you see their Christmas line!

Single Inspiration - Helping {?} Big Brother

I was over at SoulScrappers and was inspired by the Cookin' Up Creations Challenge which gives a list of items to use and you make something... Hey, kind of like the Reduce Challenge here, great minds, eh?  but they don't limit you from buying your supplies.  I'm such a meanie!
Anyway, I had this handful of photos of Bear shoveling with her big brother.  She stood in one place and moved a handful of snow about 6" with each shovel but was so proud.  I tucked journaling behind the snowflake patterned paper with a ribbon pull but forgot to put it in for the photo.
I used a bunch of old pps up and some really old stamps from Stampin' Up.  I just wanted to keep it simple and really like how it turned out.  Now I'm off to finish playing with my Summer Fresh papers from Simple Stories.  In fact, if you are coming to the crop at the Legion from 10a - 10p this Saturday, tell me you want the Simple Stories layout and you can do it for only $4.  Otherwise it will be $7 as usual for the double layout.  I'd post it now but need to print out the pics so I guess it will be a surprise:)

Super Simple Single - Enjoy the Little Things

Hadn't scrapped a page for #4 in a while so I decided it was time.  I don't do my pages in any special order.  Just as the mood strikes :)

I used the back of some Crate Paper (I use the backs at least as much as the fronts!)  I also used alpha stickers from Simple Stories.

Have a great day!
